Mercedes G-Wagon (G63)
The Defender’s 3.0L Inline-6 Turbo engine runs with a composed, low-frequency hum at idle — refined enough for a business district, purposeful enough to signal presence. At highway speeds, the 8-speed automatic delivers seamless power across all 296 HP without hesitation. Inside, Ebony leather seats, soft-touch surfaces, and a clean instrument layout create a cabin that feels considered rather than decorative. The AWD system distributes torque continuously and automatically — no driver input required.
On Dubai’s mix of smooth boulevards and occasional rough junctions, the Defender’s adaptive suspension absorbs imperfections without passing them to passengers. Five adults travel in genuine comfort. The high seating position gives the driver a commanding view over surrounding traffic — a real advantage in dense urban flow, not a styling choice.
The 5-seat Defender carries up to 1,075 liters of cargo — enough for 5–6 standard suitcases (75×50×30 cm). Arriving at DXB with the whole family and full bags? This is the vehicle that fits everything and everyone without compromise.
The road to Hatta Dam and the mountain highway toward Jebel Jais are fully paved and in excellent condition. The Defender’s suspension handles long-distance comfort for all passengers, and the 4-zone climate control keeps the cabin cool regardless of outside temperatures. Worth knowing: Dubai speed cameras allow a 20 km/h buffer — Abu Dhabi does not. If your route passes through Abu Dhabi, keep that in mind.
The elevated seating position and 360° camera system make the Defender remarkably easy to navigate in dense urban areas. You see over traffic. Parking in tight spaces is assisted — not guessed.
The Defender comfortably seats five adults across a long day. Interior noise stays low on the highway, making conversation easy. Climate performance holds strong even in Dubai’s peak summer heat.
The G-Wagon delivers a stronger brand presence and a heavier, more dramatic feel. But its ladder-frame construction and older suspension geometry make it noticeably stiffer in city traffic. The Defender rides on a modern unibody platform with independent suspension — the result is a smoother, more controlled experience on daily Dubai roads.
The Land Cruiser is proven and exceptionally reliable. The Defender, however, is more compact, turns in a tighter radius (approximately 12 meters), and is noticeably easier to park in Dubai’s multi-level garages and mall parking structures. Important note: At 1,974 mm in height, always confirm ceiling clearance before entering covered parking — most Dubai Mall levels accommodate this with standard headroom.
